I chose Flannery O' Connor's self portrait to recreate. I find it a really compelling picture despite the muted colors.
This project was really fun to make! I was inspired by a project I saw at the Bellevue Arts Museum of matches with different amounts of burn marks. To show the evolution of an object I took old wooden spoons and dipped them in descending blue paint. I chose to have the smallest spoon to have the most blue paint, and the longest to have the least, just as a way to contrast. The glitter in the middle of the spoons is opposite. The small spoon with the most paint, has the least amount of glitter, and the glitter increases as the paint decreases. This project was the easiest one that I did, but probably one of the ones I enjoyed the most.
The goal of this project was to make a piece that was transparent without using a media that was transparent. I used a found candle holder, that was netted and see through to hold the flowers that I made. I used thin wooden dowels as the stems and pipe cleaners and string for the flowers. It turned out really cute and it is definitely transparent thanks to the large flowers, with all the negative space in-between them.
This project was to include at least 3 different media. I used, wood, string, tape, wire, feathers and pipe cleaners. This one looks better in person I think, because it is actually pretty big. It was supposed to be a dragon fly, but I feel like the vision didn't translate well. It is my first project so I think things will get better as it goes. I have it hanging in my room so I do actually like it. |
