I made this bowl intending to create texture and depth out of a smooth project. To do this I threw a sea mix bowl, and then added strips of red clay to the inside. I used clear glaze to make sure the inside of the bowl is the focus.
This bowl is thrown out of sea mix and then altered during footing. I made thin, horizontal indentions then thick, vertical indentions that created the organic, rugged texture on the outside. This juxtaposes the smooth interior. To emphasize this more I only glazed the inside and left the outside only bisqued.
For the double wall I threw a donut and then added a coil base. I really like this project because it took on a sense of sculpture. I chose to leave it un glazed to make sure it was perceived as an actual work and not silly.
This plate is made from red clay and glazed in shadow green. It faded out nicely to reveal that the clay used was red. Green and red are complimentary colors so they go together well.
